Abstract:Abstract: In this new era where everything is constantly developing, chemistry teachers are required to have an innovative spirit in education and teaching, constantly reform the quality of education and teaching, in order to improve students'' hands-on ability, thinking ability, and interest in chemistry. This article focuses on experiments and mainly explores which plant pigments can replace common acid-base indicators in middle school chemistry. By screening various plants with high levels of plant pigments, it was found that plant pigments that can replace acid-base indicators include pigments extracted from grape skins, red vegetable moss, and purple potatoes. The use of these three plant pigments to detect the pH of common acidic, alkaline, and salt solutions had a significant discoloration effect. The acid-base indicator made of plant pigments can not only stimulate students'' interest, transform learning methods and teachers'' teaching methods, but also be applied to rural middle schools without experimental conditions. This can promote the development of rural chemistry teaching.
